CSUN MataCard
Have you set up your MataCard? All CSUN Student Housing residents will need to have their MataCard set up for entry into their room.
MataCard is your secure digital CSUN ID card. It replaces the need for a physical ID card and serves as a convenient form of campus identification accessible via your iPhone, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy or other eligible Android phones.
Please visit the MataCard website for instructions on how to set up your MataCard.
Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Federal laws such as the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protect student information when a student turns 18 years old, or enters a post-secondary institution. We will not give out room numbers or phone information, grades or discipline issues to anyone—even if it is an emergency. We need to talk to the student directly. You are here to learn both in the classroom as well as outside of the classroom and managing your own account is the best way to start. Resolving roommate problems, dealing with maintenance issues or setting up a phone line are great ways for students to learn how to negotiate the administrative process. We urge parents to give students the opportunity to solve their own problems before stepping in.
You may complete a FERPA form located in the CSUN Portal which will allow us to speak with whomever you designate to receive information.
